“55 Years of light: Continuing My Mom’s Legacy at The Lamp Shoppe”

The Lamp Shoppe has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

My mother started this business over 55 years ago with a vision, a lot of determination, and a true love for helping people. Back then, advertising meant radio, newspapers, and good conversations with customers—and she believed in all of it.

I grew up in this business. I worked summers while I was in college, spent holidays here, and learned firsthand what it means to take care of people the right way. What started as helping Mom turned into a lifelong passion.

Over the years, life changed— College, marriage, and in 1982, I opened Cindy’s Portrait Studio right here in the same building. We built something special side by side.

Last month, my mom passed away.

Stepping back into the shop without her has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But I know this: The Lamp Shoppe is her legacy, and now it’s my responsibility— and my honor — to carry it forward.

Things are changing. We are stepping into the digital world, something Mom wasn’t quite sure about. She believed in face-to-face conversations— and honestly, so do I. That won’t change.

But now, we’re adding new ways to stary connected—with this blog, with social media, and with all of you.

What will never change is how we do business:

  • Helping customers find exactly what they need
  • Fixing lamps others won’t even look at
  • Taking the time to do things right
  • Treating every person who walks in like family

This blog is my way of sharing the stories behind the lamps, the repairs, the memories— and the people who have supported us over the past five decades.

If you’ve been a customer over the years, thank you.

If you’re new, welcome— you are part of the next chapter.

With gratitude,

Cindy
